For over 25 years, the professional lives of Craig Drake and Dennis Haglan have been linked. Both began their careers as bridge engineers with Caltrans’ Division of Structures, and each rose to the title of Structures Local Assistance Engineer for Districts 5 and 4 respectively.
In their early years, Craig and Dennis often spoke of one day establishing their own engineering firm to provide top level service to the transportation community, but that day was still on the horizon. After both entered the private sector in the mid-1990’s, they collaborated on opening Sacramento area offices for two international engineering firms, each a successful undertaking in its own right. In 2007, Craig and Dennis ventured out on their own and founded Drake Haglan & Associates (DHA).
In 2008, Kevin Ross joined the firm to provide additional leadership for the bridge design group, and Matt Satow followed in 2012 to expand DHA’s roadway design capabilities. To streamline and complement our planning and design functions, DHA added an environmental services group in 2013 led by Jennifer Hildebrandt. In 2015, Howard Zabell joined the firm to lead and expand our growing construction management group.
Today, DHA is the transportation engineering firm Craig and Dennis envisioned all those years ago. Headquartered in Rancho Cordova, our success speaks for itself: 38 full-time staff working on transportation projects throughout California. In 2014, we celebrated the opening of our new office in Modesto, to expand our geographic footprint and better serve our clients in the Central Valley.
Our roots are deeply planted as experts of the Highway Bridge Program. It has been this experience that has enabled us to extend our service line offerings to civil engineering, grant administration, environmental services, and construction management.
Our mission, however, remains the same: Client Satisfaction.
